FTSE THIS WEEK (FTSE:UKX #DAX #BRENT ) Oddly, for August last week started to give some hope as market gross values traded started to move upward slightly. Equally, many shares appeared taking an interest in life. Until Friday, of course, when boredom kicked the doors down.
Gross value traded again dropped below the 5 Billion Pound figure and the market experienced a day which was, essentially, a waste of everyones time. It makes us envy France, where Paris is essentially on holiday for the entire month of August and substantially less effort is wasted trying to pretend things are normal.
Alternately, if could really be the case the FTSE actually intends use the final full week of this month to actually fall to our much mentioned 7360 points. Visually, the final tell tale should be weakness now below 7477 proving difficult to recover from as 7360 parades magnetically around further down the food chain. Longer term, it is probably worth wondering what happens if 7360 breaks?
In such a scenario, a further drop cycle to 7120 points looks viable.
While we’re in the mood to berate Friday’s performance, the market (briefly) managed above 7565 just after 9am. In theory, this was supposed to lift the FTSE away from the immediate droop cycle to 7360 but instead, after just eight minutes, the rise was reversed in a mood swing which drop the index to a day low of 7514 points. It has created an unrealistic situation where once again we are supposed to below above 7565 removes the market from its immediate weakness phase.
Our inclination, instead, is to now demand the FTSE better 7592 to allow a rise to be treated as serious, this bringing the index into a region where 7680 is allegedly viable.

Please remember, all prices are mid-price (halfway between the Buy and Sell). When we refer to a price CLOSING above a specific level, we are viewing the point where we can regard a trend as changing. Otherwise, we are simply speculating on near term trading targets. Our website is www.trendsandtargets.com.
UPDATE. We often give an initial and a secondary price. If the initial is exceeded, we still expect it to fall back but the next time the initial is bettered, the price should continue to the secondary. The converse it true with price drops.
