Trends and Targets for 9/08/2018

PAN AFRICAN #PAF #NK225 #SP500 Every now an then, someone will comment with what sounds like absolute authority; “Charts are not relevant for AIM shares!”. We’ve learned to leave opinions like that alone, taking a “horse to water” stance.

Pan African has, during 2018, managed perform quite a fascinating feat (shown by the inset on the chart) as the share price smashed below the uptrend since 2008, then simply stopped going down. This means one of two things – or perhaps both! Either “the herd” are actively trading the share, effectively protecting the price or more probably the market doesn’t (currently) want the price to drop further.

It’s presently trading around 7.5p and needs CLOSE below 7p to convince us it’s entering a drop cycle to 5p initially where a convincing argument indicates some sort of bounce can be expected. But if 5p is broken intraday, ultimate bottom is around the 3.25p mark, a point we cannot calculate below.

We’ve mentioned repeatedly our in-house mantra, “if it ain’t goin’ down, it’s goin’ up”. This lot certainly fulfil all criteria behind this fable as now, if the price betters 8.1p, our initial growth calculation comes along at 9.4p. What really surprises is the secondary if 9.4p bettered as it looks like 12.8p is a viable ambition – by our standards, quite a jump. Above 12.8 and we’d need stir the tea leaves again.

A suspicion this mobs price is ‘parked’, while the market awaits some sort of news, will doubtless be justified with some investigation.

Please remember, all prices are mid-price (halfway between the Buy and Sell). When we refer to a price CLOSING above a specific level, we are viewing the point where we can regard a trend as changing. Otherwise, we are simply speculating on near term trading targets. Our website is www.trendsandtargets.com.

UPDATE. We often give an initial and a secondary price. If the initial is exceeded, we still expect it to fall back but the next time the initial is bettered, the price should continue to the secondary. The converse it true with price drops.
