Trends and Targets for 6/08/2018

FTSE this week. #FTSE #BRENT #NASDAQ Friday 3rd experienced one of the more artificial days on the market with the financial volume through London a cool 69% lower than the previous day, broadly down 2/3 from normal levels. Have we mentioned it’s August?

We never expect this month to make any real sense and it’s only taken the first three days to suggest we’re facing another August with some truly irrational movements.

To cut to the chase, our suspicion is the market still intends reach 7396 points, perhaps (ideally) a bottom at 7360 where a bounce can be hoped. The fact it recently bounced at our notional 7550 shall likely prove a detail in this gloomy outlook as it now feels very like anything now below 7550 shall make an attempt at an initial 7396 points. To kibosh the prospect entirely, the index needs better 7775 (blue) presently.

Of slight interest is a fairly near term prospect as, should the index exceed 7678 points, we’re looking for growth to an initial 7735 points. Secondary, if exceeded, comes along at 7760 along with a challenge of the BLUE line on the chart. If triggered, stop can be at 7607 – or if feeling absurdly brave, 7628 points.

Please remember, all prices are mid-price (halfway between the Buy and Sell). When we refer to a price CLOSING above a specific level, we are viewing the point where we can regard a trend as changing. Otherwise, we are simply speculating on near term trading targets. UPDATE. We often give an initial and a secondary price. If the initial is exceeded, we still expect it to fall back but the next time the initial is bettered, the price should continue to the secondary. The converse it true with price drops.
