Trends and Targets for 20/07/2018

FTSE FOR FRIDAY (FTSE:UKX) #GOLD #NASDAQ Since the start of July, the #FTSE has remained flatlining – if a line 150 points wide can be called flat. So far, six cycles with “Approaching 7550 – go LONG or approaching 7700 – go SHORT” have taken place. Generally, the market will want all gains back!

The immediate situation of above 7705 indicating the potential of growth to an initial 7745 points. Our secondary, if such a point bettered, now calculates at 7870. It appears, if triggered, stop needs be rather wide at 7600 (at tightest!)

However, the market is lurking with hesitation just below the 7700 level and we’d be curious with any near term traffic below 7650 as a trip to 7610 looks viable. If broken, secondary comes in at 7562 points. It does not escape our notice this would retain the FTSE pretty comfortably within the current flat line.

We’ve an in-house mantra which is usually correct; “if it ain’t goin’ down, it’s goin’ up”. For the FTSE, just about every signal has been demanding the index slump to 7360 points. We’re probably not the only folk who’ve noticed this has failed to materialise. This situation now is we shall only believe a surge downward is coming if the market actually makes it below our 7562 points.

UPDATE. We often give an initial and a secondary price. If the initial is exceeded, we still expect it to fall back but the next time the initial is bettered, the price should continue to the secondary. The converse it true with price drops.
