From a personal perspective, the only thing having a worse week than the FTSE has been this writer. On Monday, things started to go a bit weird, a recent diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes meaning the Pharmacist at our local GP surgery got to stab me, determined I’d be comfortable self administering the diabetes and fat bloke drug called Ozempic. While I’ve lost 2.5kg since Monday, the reason was probably due to Tuesdays Dentist appointment. A root canal treatment went wrong, when a hairline fracture in the tooth split wide open. Three teeth were removed and stitches required, creating a situation where eating has not been high on the priorities list. But creamy mushroom soup has served the job for dinner and breakfast, along with taking far too many Ibuprofen for the pain. But keen to prove nothing was too stupid, a visit to our local Chiropodist took place on Thursday, a “slightly” ingrown big toenail needing dealt with. This twenty minutes of hell left me sitting quietly in my car, waiting ’till calm restored itself before driving home.
A lesson was learned, in future only the services of one professional “ist” shall be engaged per week as all these people seem determined to inflict pain.
As mentioned, the FTSE has been experiencing a similar friend, probably at the hands of Analysts and Politicianists. One worry for next week comes from the Economists who are doubtless advising central banks to increase interest rates, even though the reductions experienced by the UK lagged behind everywhere else. For instance, Europe and NZ recently increased their rates to 2.75%, still substantially below the UK’s current 3.75% which is damaging the entire country. The rate decision is at noon next Thursday.
Things are not looking great for the FTSE on Friday, movement below 10,592 looking capable of triggering reversal to an initial 10,555 points. Should such a level break, our longer term secondary calculates down at 10,515 and perhaps a bounce. But overall, the market is already looking dangerously attracted to a future bottom at 10,413 points.
However, there is a faint light shining in the misery of darkness. For the FTSE, should the index clamber above 10,673 points, we can hope for gains to an initial 10,699 points with our secondary, if exceeded, at 10,777 points and an urgent need to revisit our tea leaves.
On a brighter note, it’s the usually entertaining Spanish Grand Prix this weekend and hopefully solid food shall be on our menu. Have a good weekend.

SUCCESS above means both FAST & SLOW targets were met. ‘CESS means just the FAST target met and probably the next time it is exceeded, movement to the SLOW target shall commence.

Please remember, all prices are mid-price (halfway between the Buy and Sell). When we refer to a price CLOSING above a specific level, we are viewing the point where we can regard a trend as changing. Otherwise, we are simply speculating on near term trading targets. Our website is www.trendsandtargets.com.
UPDATE. We often give an initial and a secondary price. If the initial is exceeded, we still expect it to fall back but the next time the initial is bettered, the price should continue to the secondary. The converse it true with price drops.
