Aston Martin Lagonda Plc (LSE:AML)  trading around 32.06p at time of writing

We’ve a favourite local tractor, the surface rust making our own little red tractor look immaculate. But the scruffy David Brown tractor, a genuine DB996, will always be the inspiration of the Aston Martin “DB” moniker, whereas our little red machine has no claim to fame, other than surviving for a few years with absolutely no brakes. And like a real Aston Martin, this tractor has a tow rope as a permanent fixture decorating the front of the machine. To give credit where it’s due, the machine successfully completed cutting the long grass in a sheep pasture, cheerfully creating a load of hay bails.

This is life in Argyll, where we get excited at the most ridiculous things on a dog walk. It’s unlikely Jeremy Clarkson would tolerate this machine on his Diddly Squat farm, despite the ‘heritage’ of a David Brown tractor.

And as for Aston Martin themselves, that’s another story.

When we reviewed Aston Martin back in February, before their Formula1 season kicked into turpitude, their race cars failing to adhere to the idea of competition! Instead, the team languishes second from the bottom of the Constructors charts, kept off bottom place by Formula1 newcomer Cadillac who’re experiencing exactly the season everyone expected. But Aston Martin, despite a former World Champion driving for them, avoid points. Aston Martin have come dreadfully close to our 30p bottom – as proposed in February – and we wonder if a bounce can be anticipated. Perhaps there’s a chance the repeated visits to 32p recently have created a bottom..

If this is indeed the case, above 35p should trigger movement to an initial 37.7p with our longer term secondary, if beaten, at 42p. This would be quite a big deal, nudging their share price into a cycle where a future 54p calculates as possible.

However, we’d be remiss if we didn’t sprinkle some common sense. It is now the case, where below 32p risks provoking reversal to an initial 28p with our secondary, if broken, at 21p. This secondary represents a price level where some forced recovery (by normal rules) is almost mandatory. Perhaps the Formula1 team shall experience a race where  both cars manage to complete a race on the same day…

SUCCESS above means both FAST & SLOW targets were met. ‘CESS means just the FAST target met and probably the next time it is exceeded, movement to the SLOW target shall commence.

Our commentary is in two sections. Immediately below are today’s updated comments. If our commentary remains valid, the share can be found in the bottom section which has a RED heading. Hopefully, this will mean you no longer need to flip back through previous reports. HYPERLINKS DISABLED IN THIS VERSION

Please remember, all prices are mid-price (halfway between the Buy and Sell). When we refer to a price CLOSING above a specific level, we are viewing the point where we can regard a trend as changing. Otherwise, we are simply speculating on near term trading targets. Our website is www.trendsandtargets.com.

UPDATE. We often give an initial and a secondary price. If the initial is exceeded, we still expect it to fall back but the next time the initial is bettered, the price should continue to the secondary. The converse it true with price drops.
