Natwest Group Plc (LSE:NWG) and a target above 1100p!!!

It finally happened, we ended up lighting a log fire on Friday evening, the first of winter. From the scent of burning wood permeating the air, we were not the only folk making the decision to light a fire, rather than face extortion over the price of heating oil. This is a fairly big issue here in the Scottish Highlands (Glasgow Airport is around 25 miles away…), the concept of supplying gas to villages somehow escapes installers. As a result, houses are Oil, Electric, or Big Gas Tank in the garden, but most folk also take a cautionary approach by ensuring they’ve wood burning stoves. But needless to say, the coming week allegedly promises 20c temperatures, aka roof down weather in the car.

Natwest Group should also be experiencing a “roof down” moment as they’ve a visual possibility of their share price heading to new levels!

We’re a bit cautious about this, even though the share has already achieved a “higher high” since breaking through the 19 year old Blue downtrend since 2007. Rather a lot has happened which suggests we should treat this Blue downtrend very seriously but, if we’re honest, until Natwest share price closes above the immediate initial target level of 730p, we’d advocate caution, advising not to rush out and buy a small bottle of Babysham. (Do they still sell that stuff?)

The immediate situation for Natwest suggests strength above 714 should trigger traffic to an initial 730p next. Our longer term secondary, should such a level be exceeded, calculates at 754p and almost certain hesitation, despite the future attraction from a long term 1,155p dangling in the distance. This, almost shocking, target level is a Big Picture thing which became “real” once the share price broke through the Blue downtrend since 2007 with a series of movements which confirm – according to our in-house rules – the Big Picture downtrend is real and represents something we should anticipate the share price to react against, as time goes on.

Should Natwest intend clown around, the share needs below 665 currently to potentially trigger reversal to an initial 633 with our secondary, if broken, at 603p and a very possible “bottom”.

SUCCESS above means both FAST & SLOW targets were met. ‘CESS means just the FAST target met and probably the next time it is exceeded, movement to the SLOW target shall commence.

Our commentary is in two sections. Immediately below are today’s updated comments. If our commentary remains valid, the share can be found in the bottom section which has a RED heading. Hopefully, this will mean you no longer need to flip back through previous reports. HYPERLINKS DISABLED IN THIS VERSION

Please remember, all prices are mid-price (halfway between the Buy and Sell). When we refer to a price CLOSING above a specific level, we are viewing the point where we can regard a trend as changing. Otherwise, we are simply speculating on near term trading targets. Our website is www.trendsandtargets.com.

UPDATE. We often give an initial and a secondary price. If the initial is exceeded, we still expect it to fall back but the next time the initial is bettered, the price should continue to the secondary. The converse it true with price drops.
