80 Mile Plc excitement (LSE:80M), trading around 1.24 at time of writing.

On Wednesday, I became the “pratt in a convertible“. Leaving a hospital appointment, the car dashboard reported 19.5c outside, signalling what was probably going to be the last day of the year the magic button could be pushed and the VW  EOS mechanical roof retracted. Roof down, flat cap on, shades on, the 8 mile journey to the ferry terminal commenced, as usual enjoying a similar feeling to riding a motorcycle, aware of everything going on 360 degrees around. The similarity to riding a motorcycle is nothing to do with “wind in the hair” nonsense, just the massively improved feeling of awareness by escaping from the confines of a tin box.

It was curious, driving down the ramp to the ferry, how the sun had remained the same, yet the outside temperature had dropped to 16c. Clearly the return to Argyll was underway! But within another 5 minutes .of the ferry choosing to reverse across the estuary (fairly common with heavy sea swells to protect car windscreens from damage), the outside temperature was now 16c and my finger was solidly holding the magic button in the “UP” position, the thing refusing point blank to move due to “Luggage Compartment Sensor Error”, a nasty message advising I hadn’t tidied away my shopping from Aldi and Tesco, thus giving the VW the chance to behave like a supermarket Self Scan ‘assistant’ and furnish as little aid as possible. In a totally non scientific experiment, Tesco won the award for the least helpful assistant, someone who was happy to bypass the flashing red light above the machine, though less willing to remove the security tag from the blue jeans which caused the alert. I always wonder whether my Scottish patterned checked scarf (which looks rather like Palestinian protest headgear) shall get me through a security checkpoint on a two tier nod and wink. This remains an untried test.

Aldi, on the other hand, had self scan Gestapo with a sense of humour, cheerfully pointing out I’d inverted the “Pick Up, Scan, Drop” sides of their gadget, then taking over the job. When I got home, I noticed the bloke had only scanned 5 of the 8 bags of coffee beans!!! Rushing back and pointing out the 12 quid error is impossible, due to the £50 ferry return ticket. I like to think I’m an honest guy but there is a limit.

Once I’d played Jenga with all the shopping in the car boot, the roof finally deigned to close just before we docked in Argyll. The outside temperature was now 14c, the wind rather strong, and the unspoken “Pratt” word visible on every face who’d been watching the pantomime with the car roof. But when leaving the ferry, virtually every vehicle turned left, suggesting they were tourists/day trippers, with only myself turning right to head into the frozen wasteland which is now Argyll… Summer is officially over!

To seamlessly lead into 80 Mile, a company focussed on Exploration and Development of Energy and Strategic Resources in Greenland, Wednesday provided a sharp reminder Argyll enjoys an Arctic Climate thanks to very little between the area and the North Pole. Though perhaps 80 Mile have a building on Greenland which briefly interrupts our inbound weather.

According to our calculations, above 1.3p should next promote share price growth to an initial 1.9p with our secondary, if exceeded, working out at a future 2.4p. The close proximity of these target levels tends suggest the probability of a glass ceiling making an appearance somewhere between these two target levels. The implication of such behaviour is quite fascinating, a suggestion share price closure some point in the future, shall open the doors for a cycle leading to an eventual 5p. This would prove quite a big deal, justifying the flurry of emails we received asking our opinion for the long term.

Our inevitable negative scenario needs mentioned as it’s quite troubling. The share price needs below 0.4p for real panic, entering a cycle where the eventual bottom works out at an impossible -4p. While we truly look forward to the day a company shall offer “investors” 4p to take a share off their hands, the chances are unlikely. Unless they perhaps appoint a current Government chancellor as the Chief Financial Officer, someone we suspect perfectly capable of lowering a car roof on a day like Wednesday.

SUCCESS above means both FAST & SLOW targets were met. ‘CESS means just the FAST target met and probably the next time it is exceeded, movement to the SLOW target shall commence.

Our commentary is in two sections. Immediately below are today’s updated comments. If our commentary remains valid, the share can be found in the bottom section which has a RED heading. Please remember, all prices are mid-price (halfway between the Buy and Sell). When we refer to a price CLOSING above a specific level, we are viewing the point where we can regard a trend as changing. Otherwise, we are simply speculating on near term trading targets. Our website is www.trendsandtargets.com.

UPDATE. We often give an initial and a secondary price. If the initial is exceeded, we still expect it to fall back but the next time the initial is bettered, the price should continue to the secondary. The converse it true with price drops.
