There are odd occasions when this writer fully embraces the opportunity to look weird. It’s not a weird character trait but instead, common sense. On Monday, it was raining and the little red tractor was scheduled for repair, due to “some idiot” damaging the steering arm. Following years of nagging, before tackling a job which involves lying down in mud, I’m supposed to identify and wear some old clothes. However, one alternative sometimes is chosen, digging out an old RAF Flight Suit. The thing is perfect for outdoors work and more importantly, when “they” were inventing pockets, a 40 year old flight suit was the experimental product. There’s literally a pocket for everything and better still, with heavy boots it looks quite cool.
So, battling with the tractor also needed a wide brimmed hat, due to it also chucking it down with rain. It didn’t take long for a mental “stuff this” attitude to prevail, giving an excuse to flee the garden and head to the local supermarket in the local town. Our local Morrisons, a store which strives to single handedly drive inflation figures upward, is also a reasonable haunt when hunting sugar for wine fermentation. Morrisons sell the product in 5kg bags, ideal for making wine. When in the store, lazily leaning on my trolley, there was the odd feeling of being noticed. I was confident it wasn’t my old flight suit as lots of “worky” types wear overalls. The penny eventually dropped, I was still wearing my wide brimmed hat, there being an unspoken law here in Argyll about wearing hats in-doors. Outside in the rain, someone could wear a spiked German helmet from WW1 and none would bat an eyelid. Just do not wear it inside or the ‘hat police’ will cast judgement. Country living carries its own set of parameters.
And this, obviously, brings us to Man Group Plc, describing themselves as ‘ a global leader in alternative investment management’ . The are accused of being the worlds largest publicly traded Hedge Fund company! They also have a fascinating factoid, supplying the Royal Navy with daily Rum for sailors from 1784 until 1970, a pretty impressive trading record. Of course, in this time, they also became pretty savvy on things like the sugar, rum, coffee, and cocoa markets They had a heck of a groundwork got their current position as a Hedge Fund.
According to our software, along with some numbers written on the back of a ciggy packet, Man Group Plc don’t need do much to become interesting in the near term. If we judge by the emails received, this should be worthy of attention in the near term.
Presently trading around the 340p level, Man Group “only” need exceed 347.5p to hopefully trigger a cycle upward to an initial 367p with our longer term secondary, if exceeded, calculating around a future 370p. All things considered, apparently a future and distant 406p exerts some sort of attraction, something similar to the current UK Government and their fascination with Lemming culture.
As always, we can propose a converse scenario, one which in the instance is less likely. Below 308p claims a visit to an initial 277 shall be possible with our secondary, if broken, working out at 257p and a bounce.
For now, we feel Man Group shall justify a share price rise.

SUCCESS above means both FAST & SLOW targets were met. ‘CESS means just the FAST target met and probably the next time it is exceeded, movement to the SLOW target shall commence.
Our commentary is in two sections. Immediately below are today’s updated comments. If our commentary remains valid, the share can be found in the bottom section which has a RED heading. Please remember, all prices are mid-price (halfway between the Buy and Sell). When we refer to a price CLOSING above a specific level, we are viewing the point where we can regard a trend as changing. Otherwise, we are simply speculating on near term trading targets. Our website is www.trendsandtargets.com.
UPDATE. We often give an initial and a secondary price. If the initial is exceeded, we still expect it to fall back but the next time the initial is bettered, the price should continue to the secondary. The converse it true with price drops.
