Our Famous FTSE for FRIDAY (FTSE:UKX)  trading around 10,792 at time of writing.

There are just 119 days until Christmas Day. To be fair, counting down “the days” isn’t something we’re guilty of – except for an end to the days of horror which is August on the stock market. Even reviewing the price of Crude Oil has become an exercise in futility, the markets clearly opting to keep it effectively trapped in place until something positive or negative actually takes place. Perhaps Mr Trump shall decide to rename the Straits of Hormuz something like “Trump Straits” in memory of his fantastic success in destabilising the region, pushing oil profits to new surprise levels.

We shall not be surprised, if September brings some surprise reversals on the price of Brent, potentially to around the $77 dollar level, if only because the markets are bored at the lack of activity…

As for the FTSE, we shall not be aghast if the market opts to end the month with a bit of a squeak. Currently, weakness below 10,770 looks very capable of provoking reversal down to an initial 10,731 points with our secondary, if broken, a considerably less likely 10,679 points. Visually, there is nothing currently hinting this secondary could be viable, especially as it would dump the UK index in a zone where the Big Picture is presenting a long term bottom at 10,413 as possible, this being a target which does make some visual sense.

If this drop triggers, the tightest stop is wide at 10,827 points.

Our alternate, more positive, scenario covers what’s possible, if the UK nudges above 10,827 points. In such a game plan, we can calculate the hope of movement to an initial 10,866 points with our secondary, if bettered, at 10,694 points along with very probable hesitation.

Have a good weekend. Just 9 days until the next Grand Prix from Italy, sometimes worth missing.

SUCCESS above means both FAST & SLOW targets were met. ‘CESS means just the FAST target met and probably the next time it is exceeded, movement to the SLOW target shall commence.

Our commentary is in two sections. Immediately below are today’s updated comments. If our commentary remains valid, the share can be found in the bottom section which has a RED heading. Please remember, all prices are mid-price (halfway between the Buy and Sell). When we refer to a price CLOSING above a specific level, we are viewing the point where we can regard a trend as changing. Otherwise, we are simply speculating on near term trading targets. Our website is www.trendsandtargets.com.

UPDATE. We often give an initial and a secondary price. If the initial is exceeded, we still expect it to fall back but the next time the initial is bettered, the price should continue to the secondary. The converse it true with price drops.
