Alistair Strang
A software geek before the word geek was invented.
He's the one who designed
our unique way of looking at the
stock market, using a blend of
his software and far more
importantly, human experience.
Alistair's background, while
principally computer related
also involves retail and
commercial property. He retired
in 2007, that decision lasting
just 18 months. He's worked in
many fields, ranging from fuel
supply projection, the first email
system
in the 1980's for the UK
Govt, credit card usage
trends (fraud prevention),
corporate asset management, the
paperless direct debit
initiative. And he also won the
original John Logie Baird Award
for his cellular audio
invention which was to become
the Bluetooth headset. During the early
2000's, someone noted his
software was monitoring £6 BILLION pounds of financial
transactions daily
through Credit Card usage and
Direct Debit transactions. Big numbers are
his thing. He's also the bloke
who wrote "State of
Independence", proving his
skills extend beyond programming
languages.
Jaclyn Strang
After leaving
university, Jaclyn worked with Swan Precision for
some years, principally testing software designed to
map trends in the petroleum and financial
industries. When
the owner of the business decided to retire at 50,
she did the inevitable world travel thing before
returning to work for the Arnold Clark Organisation.
Her job there was unexpected, specialising in Fiat
Abarth Sales & Marketing. Her organisational skills
led her to be tasked with Motor Show events, along
with all other Fiat Abarth sports initiatives. In 2012,
she opted to leave her job and return to work with
her first boss from Swan PSL and is now managing Trends & Targets!
As can be guessed from the surnames, it's a father and daughter business at heart.
where are we?We're actually spread around the UK. The team teleconference from home! It would be nice to give the illusion we gather every evening to dissect that days market movements while swilling red wine but the reality is different. Our primary systems are located in a quaint village called Kilmun on the shores of the Holy Loch, Argyll. Each analyst has a primary server with multiple screens, along with a laptop for Skype video.

a working day...A typical working day starts just before 8am and finishes around 1am. But there are lots of gaps in-between and we do take duty spells. The pre-market outlook is a 'hands on deck' exercise between 5pm and 10pm (or much later.)
