Just when it seemed we might finally run out of old Rolls-Royce stories, a chum managed to produce another one on Sunday.<\/p>\n

He’d visited a car boot sale and picked up a wooden box containing a collection of miscellaneous hand tools for the princely sum of \u00a310. To be fair, this is not a man you’d trust with a screwdriver or spanner. He enjoys collecting tools, but has little idea what to do with them.<\/p>\n

Five items in particular caught his eye. Each came in its own custom case, and all bore the Rolls-Royce name. He’d stumbled across five Rolls-Royce micrometers, each labelled with the date of its previous calibration test.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, he’d already researched his haul and reckoned each instrument might fetch around \u00a3100 on eBay. His magpie-like fascination with tools has often left him open to a bit of friendly ridicule, but on this occasion, we’d have to call it a win.<\/p>\n

Over the years, I’ve needed a micrometer perhaps twice, usually resorting to a good old-fashioned guesstimate after seeing the price of one before ordering a bearing or something similar. Big hammers, after all, were invented for a reason.<\/p>\n

Rolls-Royce share price: signs of a recovery?<\/h2>\n

Despite having broken below the rising trend that had been in place since the start of 2025, Rolls-Royce is now showing some early signs of a potential recovery.<\/p>\n

For the bullish scenario to gain traction, we’d need to see the share price break above 1,282p<\/strong>. Such a move would satisfy our first technical condition and open the way towards an initial target of 1,341p<\/strong>. A subsequent break above that level would bring our secondary target of 1,413p<\/strong> into play.<\/p>\n

Should this scenario be triggered, our tightest stop-loss level would sit at 1,161p<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Of course, we also have a less optimistic scenario in mind.<\/p>\n

A fresh move below 1,158p<\/strong> would raise concerns about renewed weakness and the risk of a reversal. In that event, we’d look for an initial downside target of 1,112p<\/strong>, followed by a secondary target of 1,037p<\/strong> if the lower level is breached.<\/p>\n

Our view<\/h2>\n

For now, we’re inclined to anticipate a recovery in the share price. One encouraging feature of the recent dip was that Rolls-Royce failed to close below 1,161p<\/strong>. That resilience leaves us wondering whether there’s more underlying strength here than the recent weakness might suggest.<\/p>\n

A break above 1,282p would provide the first meaningful confirmation of that view. Until then, the prospect of a recovery remains just that: a prospect, rather than a confirmed move.<\/p>\n
