#FTSE #Formula1 Our \u00a3200 Aldi robot lawnmower finally provoked complete betrayal, the little red tractor finding itself listed on Gumtree, surplus to requirements and in “fair” working order (aka the brakes don’t work). To sweeten the deal, our self propelled lawnmower is free with the tractor. Absurdly, this is all due to a garden robot which has is equipped with a 7 inch blade, replacing the tractor which has 38 inch blades! The thing we’d realised is the robot mower’s job isn’t to just cut the grass, a task we’d generally tackle with the tractor every week or two. Instead, the little robot comes out of its garage every couple of days, spending around 6 hours wandering aimlessly on the grass, essentially providing an ongoing manicure. The grass literally never gets the chance to grow and our lawn has never looked better. The secret to a perfect lawn appears to be avoiding the grass growing to the point where it needs cut. Instead, rather obviously, a little robot doing regular pedicures does the job perfectly. If only Gillette or Wilkinson Sword would invent a razor for blokes, a little robot which wandered around the face while you slept!<\/p>\n

Obviously, we’ve a dodgy simile between the foregoing and the FTSE, though in this instance, we’re referring to it as Big Picture and Near Term. Big Picture on the market is effectively a break between grass cuts, whereas Near Term is… near term. We keep an eye on these markers as when Near Term and Big Picture targets coincide, this is generally a point from which some larger market movements can be anticipated.<\/p>\n

For the FTSE, the current Big Picture looks like the chart below.<\/p>\n

At present, there is a strong Big Picture suggestion movement above 10716 points on the FTSE should generate traffic to an initial 10797 points with our secondary, if beaten, calculating at a longer term 0832 points. It’s not the worst scenario, allowing a stop loss with 10640 points.<\/p>\n

Our alternate reversal scenario if a little less pleasant, suggesting below 10610 points could trigger reversals to an initial 10589 points with our secondary, if broken, at 10458 points. Oddly, due to this little dance being enacted within trend lines, the stop loss level for a short position is also at 10640 points!<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

But from a near term perspective, things become interesting. Apparently, above 10665 points has the potential to trigger movement to a fairly tame 10,699 points. But our secondary, if such a level is exceeded, calculates at 10800 points, just three points away from a Big Picture target. The underlying suggestion is of “something” being due to occur on the FTSE.<\/span><\/p>\n

From a near term reversal stance, there is a risk below 10611 points shall promote reversal to an initial 10589 with our secondary, if broken, at 10458 points. We are not confident this reversal scenario shall prove viable but if triggered, the tightest stop is 10660 points.<\/span><\/p>\n

For Friday, we’re inclined toward some optimism for the FTSE, though market futures at time of writing disagree. <\/span><\/p>\n

Time will tell. Have a good weekend and enjoy the Grand Prix from Hungary, sometimes a good race. Maybe Louis Hamilton shall be treated fairly…<\/span><\/p>\n
